Phoenix Vision Center provides the best eye care in Jamaica and has a long history of serving Jamaica with total vision care for decades through the loving care of Dr. Cindo Nicholson. Of this, we are very proud! In 2018, under new management, we had given our building a new look and wholly refurbished our interior, from which we have continued in the tradition of offering the best eye care in Jamaica.

Recently we have opened a new office in Kingston and Falmouth likewise, which is significant to us as it allows us to serve our beloved community even more as we continue upgrading to the most modern eye center on the island. Total vision care is here!

An ophthalmologist is a physician who specializes  in eye disorders and diseases. In order to diagnose and treat vision disorders and eye diseases, as well as provide medical and surgical treatment, a qualified physician must have several additional years of specialized education.
If a patient has a history of nearsightedness, diabetes, cataract surgery, glaucoma, eye injury, a retinal detachment in one eye, or a family member with a retinal detachment, you may need a referral to a ophthalmologist. Do you sometimes see sudden flashes of light, “floater” or specks or gray curtain moving across your line of vision? You may have a vision-threatening retinal tear or detachment. According to the American Academy of  Ophthalmology, if you are experiencing these symptoms, you should visit an ophthalmologist as soon as possible.
Children’s eyes should be checked regularly by an eye doctor or pediatrician. It is recommended that vision screening for all children at least once between age three (3) and five (5) years to detect amblyopia or risk factors for the disease. People with diabetes should have a dilated eye exam every year. Some people are at higher rick for glaucoma and should have a dilated eye exam every two years.
